Test Statistic

A statistic that is used to measure how far (or close) the sample statistic that estimates the parameter is from the value of the parameter specified by the null hypothesis is a test statistic.

 

Example

After the test statistic is calculated from the results from the significance test image, we then determine if we should reject the null hypothesis.  Assuming the calculations have been done correctly, this image shows that we failed to reject the null.
